The app

Every tool runs on your Mac. What you paste, open, format, decode or diff is processed locally and is never uploaded to us, not even in part, not even anonymously. There is no account, no sign-up, no profile and no server to hold your data — CodeSwissKnife has no backend at all.

Two tools do reach the network, because reaching the network is what they are for: the HTTP Client and the MCP Inspector's Live Connection. They send what you asked them to send, to the address you gave them, and nowhere else. Both are described below.

The connections the app makes on its own

• The update check. The app asks codeswissknife.com/updates/appcast.xml whether a newer version exists. It sends no identifier and no system profile. It is off by default and can be turned off at any time in Settings → Updates.
• Licence activation and revalidation. When you enter a licence key, the app contacts Lemon Squeezy to activate this Mac, and re-checks roughly once a week afterwards. Only the licence key and a device name you can read are sent. If the check fails, nothing happens: the app keeps working offline.

The connections you make yourself

Neither one sends anything you did not type into it, and neither runs on its own.

• HTTP Client. It sends exactly the request you wrote, to the address you wrote, when you press Send. The session is ephemeral: no cookie jar, no cache, and no history is kept after you close the app.
• MCP Inspector — Live Connection. It contacts the address you type into it, and only to read what that server advertises. It never invokes a tool, reads a resource, or starts a process.

Nothing else in the app opens a network connection. In particular the Network tools — subnet calculator, address converter, range expander, MAC and ULA generators — are arithmetic on the addresses you type and never contact anything, and System Info reads this Mac through system frameworks only, with its network details (addresses and MAC) off until you turn them on in the tool.

What is stored, and where

• Tool content — in memory while you work. Nothing is written unless you save it yourself.
• AI Developer Library — on this Mac only, in the app's local database.
• Licence key and trial record — in the macOS Keychain.
• Preferences — in the standard macOS preferences file.

None of it is synced to us, because there is no “us” to sync to.

This website

codeswissknife.com uses Google Analytics 4 and Microsoft Clarity to understand which pages people read and where they lose interest. These tools set cookies and record standard web analytics: pages viewed, approximate location, browser and device, and how you arrived. Clarity may also record anonymised interaction with the page layout.

This is website traffic only. It has no connection to the app, and the app never reports anything to either service.

You can block both with any content blocker, and the site works exactly the same.

Purchases

Payments are handled by Lemon Squeezy, which acts as merchant of record. They collect what a purchase requires — name, email, billing country, VAT details, payment method — under their own privacy policy. We never see your card details. We do see your name, email and order, which are used to deliver the licence key and to answer support requests.

Support email

If you write to support@8mobile.org, the message and anything you attach are kept only as long as needed to answer you. The “Report a problem” menu item pre-fills the app version, your macOS version, whether the Mac is Apple silicon or Intel, and your locale — you can read and delete any of it before sending.

For anything held about you — an order, a support thread, an analytics record — write to support@8mobile.org and it will be provided or deleted.
